It is universally known that having a certification is better for a company than not having it. If then it is the AEO authorization, there is no reason to discuss it.

Dear reader, I take the liberty of joking a little because I want to share with you the pride of having reached an important goal.

Yes, we are among the few companies in the sector to have obtained the AEO authorization.

So now you have further confirmation of what you already knew: we are a reliable company.

It took a year-long journey, made up of inspections and audits by the customs authorities, and the merit is of the great teamwork done in these months (as well as, of course, of the seriousness with which we have always worked) .

What is the AEO authorization

The status of authorized economic operator (“Authorized Economic Operator”, or AEO) represents a certification of reliability, issued by the Customs Authority of the Member States of the European Union.

The AEO authorization, referring to the security of the international supply chain of each company, defines the subject as reliable, both in relation to national and international commercial partners (suppliers and customers), and before the same Customs authorities of the Union.

This certificate also establishes the financial solvency of a company. This means that, from today, Seipee deliveries will be faster thanks to simplified customs controls that take advantage of priority channels.

Criteria that have been met by Seipee to obtain authorization

• Proven compliance with customs and tax regulations and the absence of serious crimes related to economic activity

• Demonstration of a high level of control over the operations and the flow of goods, through an accounting system that allows adequate customs controls

• Proven financial solvency

• Compliance with practical standards of competence or professional qualifications directly related to the activity carried out

• Existence of adequate safety standards suitable for guaranteeing the security of the international supply chain (AEO authorization).

Direct benefits for those authorized by AEO

• Less controls, therefore faster inbound and outbound shipments

• Delivery times to the foreign customer faster for the AEOs, by virtue of the mutual recognition agreements (for now with the USA, China, Japan, Norway and Switzerland) which allow a reduction of the checks also to the customs clearance in the foreign state.

• Less customs costs linked to the possibility of paying a single guarantee for all customs procedures and with a reduced amount

• Treatment priority in case of control

• More prestige on the market: an AEO operator is not only reliable for the customs administration, but also in the perception they have of their business partners

• Better relations with customs authorities (he will have a direct contact person for the Customs to contact in case of need).

Indirect benefits

• Reduction of theft and losses

• Less shipping delays

• Better programming, therefore better customer service

• More efficient inventory management.

What to expect if you are not yet AEO certified

The aim of the AEO regulation is to involve the largest number of subjects operating in the international logistics chains, so that they can guarantee a sufficient level of security of the logistics chain segment under their jurisdiction, thus allowing the customs authorities to concentrate its action on the operators without the certification, who must therefore expect:

● greater customs controls and delays in import

● greater customs controls at the borders of the United States, China and Japan

● increase in customs clearance, storage and transport costs.

They say that the best is the enemy of good. Not here in Seipee.

We are and we want to continue to be an excellence in our sector, both nationally and internationally.

Waiting for the next goal to be reached, I just have to send a sincere thanks to you, who have always trusted us, and to all the staff who have done their utmost for this extraordinary result.
