“Those who have time do not wait for time…” ancient wisdom helps us to infuse the right energy in the new year that has just begun, which gives us the opportunity to prepare for the changes that await us in the near future.

The “NEW ELECTRIC MOTORS CALENDAR” has been released, which suggests the new parameters to be adopted in the near future, following the European Community Directive, with the aim of honoring the commitments made to safeguard the environment.

From 1st July 2021:

  • Three-phase motors with Power P such that: 0.75 kW ≤ P ≤ 1,000 kW with 2, 4, 6, 8 poles, with the exception of Ex-eb motors, must be IE3.
  • Three-phase motors with Power P such that: 0.12 kW ≤ P <0.75 kW with 2, 4, 6, 8 poles, with the exception of Ex-eb motors, must be IE2.
    In addition to the various information to be reported in the data sheets and in the technical documentation of the engine (nominal efficiency, IE level of efficiency, name of the manufacturer, engine model, n of poles, etc …) it is also necessary to report the losses expressed as a percentage of the nominal power , determined on different operating points of speed and torque: (25; 25), (25; 100), (50; 25), (50; 50), (50; 100), (90; 50), ( 90; 100).

From 1st July 2022:

  • In addition to the various information to be reported in the data sheets and in the technical documentation of the engine (nominal efficiency, IE level of efficiency, name of the manufacturer, engine model, n of poles, etc …) it is also necessary to report the losses expressed as a percentage of the nominal power , determined on different operating points of speed and torque: (25; 25), (25; 100), (50; 25), (50; 50), (50; 100), (90; 50), ( 90; 100).

From 1st July 2023:

  • Ex-eb motors with Power P such that: 0.12 kW ≤ P ≤ 1,000 kW with 2, 4, 6, 8 poles must be IE2.
  • Single-phase motors with Power P such that: P ≥ 0.12 kW must be IE2.

  • Three-phase motors with Power P such that: 75 kW ≤ P ≤ 200 kW, with 2, 4, 6 poles, excluding self-braking motors, increased safety motors and other explosion-proof motors, must be IE4.

Nota:

  • The types of electric motors not affected by this directive are TENV (Totally Enclosed Non Ventilated) motors, DC and multi-polarity motors, but not TEAO (Totally Enclosed Air Over) motors, which therefore fall in its purpose
